Things We Do

Reorganizing

Using what you already have, we work with you to restructure the space. A careful rearrangement can help to break the chains on enshrined memories while ensuring integration of the best of the lost relationship. Our goal is to help create a safe, well-organized environment supporting emotional and physical well-being.

Redecorating

No matter the loss, living spaces can enter a state of stagnation. Feeling overwhelmed is par for the course. Too often, we find ourselves inhabiting a space that exists within a past moment in time. Sometimes the very thought of moving objects left behind by a loved one feels disrespectful. Sometimes the memories are just too painful to disturb, so we leave them be. Unfortunately, it takes an awful lot of energy to ignore your surroundings. Redistributing what you already have allows you to see your history in a whole new light. It breaks the "shrine" spell and allows bad memories to be put to bed. Positive memories now have the space to come front and center.

Decluttering

At your own pace, we can help you take stock of your possessions to make decisions about which ones to keep and which ones you can comfortably let go. We can help you find donation options that fit with your charitable principles or local recycling options to help keep items out of landfills.

Downsizing

Downsizing can have many catalysts. Whether you need to scale back to move to a smaller living space or just want to emerge from under a burden of clutter, we can help you make downsizing decisions that will allow you to move forward and flourish.

Prepping for sale

We can help you stage your home for sale if changing your physical address is required. This can also be an emotional experience. We will work with you as a witness to your past, support you while you make important & difficult decisions in the present, and help you feel better about embracing a new future.

Companion, sober and otherwise

The loss of a partner can leave a void that extends well beyond the emotional. Many ventures in life are not designed to be solo activities. At your discretion, we can provide moral support to make it through difficult decisions, a second pair of eyes & ears to confirm your experience, or just physical presence to avoid feeling mobbed. If it would make you feel more comfortable to have someone with you at the car dealership or while looking for real estate, we can offer non-interfering moral support. If you would like another person to be with you at the doctor's office, we can be there for you. If you have recently gotten sober, but your partner was your rock in public situations, we can attend a function by your side to help keep anxiety in check and sobriety on track.

With special consideration for the LGBTQ+ community

Members of the LGBTQ+ community often feel left out of typical grief support systems. A service professional going through the physical details of your life will generate enough anxiety without the fear of coming out as well. For example, if you have a special room in the basement that's somehow been turned into a storage space, we'll help clean it out so it can be used for its original purpose again. Closets do not need to be closed off because they house an extensive toy collection. Of course, they can be off limits if you prefer, but there are no clutched pearls here. Rejuvenating your living space can and should incorporate and celebrate all the facets of your life.
